Case Work Supervisor

Project: MSF Europe Migration/ Balkan Projects

Location: Lesvos

Starting Date: Immediately

The MSF movement is built around 5 operational centers (OC) supported by 23 sections and offices worldwide. The MSF-Mission in Greece provides humanitarian and medical assistance to the refugee and migrants populations fleeing conflict in their home countries.

Main purpose

Implement and supervise all social-related activities in order to ease the patient’s situation, either through direct support or referrals to specialized actors

Accountabilities

  • In close collaboration with the Project Medical Referent and Field Coordinator, design and update the Social Work strategy identifying indicators in order to monitor SW activities, results, and achievements.

  • Develop standard procedures for social work referrals and ensure SW team and other colleagues are regularly trained.

  • Closely follow-up on legal developments relevant for the asylum seeking population. Organizing regular information sessions for the MSF team on key legal and social issues affecting the patients. Engage with medical supervisors to ensure a good understanding of SW objectives and achievements.

  • Identifying key actors (legal and accommodation actors, NGOs and local authorities) and being the focal point for networking in order to ensure a strong referral network and pathways to cover patient’s social needs. Attending relevant coordination and working group meetings, and reporting back to the PMR/FC.

  • Organizing, training, and supervising the SW team in terms of planning and organizing their work, supporting, evaluating and coaching of personnel

  • Supervising, in close collaboration with the HR department, the HR associated processes (recruitment, training/induction, evaluation, potential detection, development and communication) of the staff under his/her responsibility in order to ensure both the sizing and the amount of knowledge required

  • Collecting and reporting to the medical team any information linked to the social/legal situation of the population

Requirements

  • Essential  degree in social work or related field

  • Minimum 1 year working experience in working with asylum seeking/refugee population. Desirable one year experience with MSF

  • Languages: Essential English, desirable (one or more of the following) Greek/French/Farsi/Arabic

  • Knowledge: Computer literacy essential, Word and Excel

  • Teamwork, service orientation, behavioural flexibility, stress management, results and quality orientation, intercultural sensitivity are essential

2) Psychologist

Project:  MSF

Europe Migration/ Balkan Projects

Location: Lesvos

Context

The MSF movement is built around 5 operational centers (OC) supported by 23 sections and offices worldwide. The MSF-Mission in Greece provides humanitarian and medical assistance to the refugee and migrants populations.

Main purpose

Provide psychological and psycho-educational sessions (individual, family and group) to children and their families in MSF Moria clinic according to MSF principles and protocols in order to improve the patients’ mental health. The psychological consultation can be provided in any refugees Camps or in the MSF Clinical Center in Mytilini.

Accountabilities

  • Carrying MH assessment of patients, establishing a diagnosis and developing congruent and time-limited treatment plan.

  • Providing individual/family/group psychological sessions in order to improve/ stabilize the patients’ mental health condition, according to MSF protocols and MSF model of care.

  • Providing psychological support, in individual and group session, for children, according to MSF model of care.

  • Providing assessment and counseling/psychological support for survivors of sexual violence, according to MSF protocols in close cooperation with the medical team.

  • When needed, performing crisis intervention sessions (PFA) to patients with acute MH problems in the clinic.

  • Providing joint sessions, according to the multidisciplinary model of care.

  • Providing attestation of care letters, as well as MH certificates to patients when appropriate.

  • Ensuring active participation in trainings, supervision and team meetings 

  • Working in close collaboration with Cultural Mediators in order to ensure appropriate terminology and behavior and therapeutic approach.

  • Collecting statistical and monitoring data about mental health activities.

  • Informing the supervisor and the medical team about any issues or problems that may arise related to patients’ treatment in order to provide the best possible solution from a medical perspective.

  • Ensuring that all patient information is kept confidential.

  • Referring patients to other health professionals whenever necessary.

Requirements

  • Education: Essential degree or diploma in Psychology. License to practice as psychologist. Degree in Child Psychology is an asset.

  • Essential 2 years’ experience minimum as a Clinical Psychologist. Desirable previous experience with MSF or other NGO’s in developing countries. Desirable previous experience with unaccompanied minors. Desirable previous experience in psychological support for children in individual and group settings. Desirable previous experience in psychological support for sexual violence victims.

  • Languages: English language essential, French is an asset

  • Knowledge: Computer literacy essential, Word and Excel

  • Teamwork and cooperation, intercultural sensitivity, flexibility, results and quality orientation, commitment to MSF principles, stress management are essential

3) Psychologist

Project: MSF Europe Migrations

Location:  Samos / Chios

Starting Date: Immediately

Duration: 6 months contract (with high possibility of extension)

Context

The MSF movement is built around 5 operational centers (OC) supported by 23 sections and offices worldwide. MSF in Greece provides humanitarian and medical assistance to the refugee and migrant populations fleeing conflict in their home countries. 

Main Purpose

Providing psychological support to patients according to MSF principles, standards and procedures in order to improve the patients’ mental health.

Accountabilities

-Carrying out evaluation of mental health needs of patients and establishing a diagnosis and a plan of treatment. Informing the patient and his/her relatives about the possible consequences of the illness and the drug treatment to follow and referring patients to other health professionals whenever necessary, in order to provide the most appropriate treatment and improve the patient's condition

-Implementing the Sexual Gender Based Violence (SGBV) protocol, identifying possible victims of SGBV and referring them to the medical team so that they receive the necessary treatment.

-Providing psychological support and psychotherapy sessions (individual, family, group) to patients according to MSF protocols in order to improve their mental health conditions

-Assisting and training staff members and resourceful people whenever necessary in order to enhance the scope of MH activities. Working in close collaboration with translators in order to ensure appropriate terminology and behaviour during session

-Collecting statistical and monitoring data about mental health activities

-Informing the supervisor and the medical team about any issues or problems that may arise related to patients’ treatment in order to provide the best possible solution from a medical perspective

-Ensuring that all patient information is kept confidential.

Qualifications

  • Essential degree or diploma in Psychology. License to practice as psychologist in Greece.

  • Essential 2 years’ experience minimum as a Psychologist working with groups.

  • Desirable previous experience with MSF or other NGO’s.

  • English language essential. 

  • Desirable computer literacy (word, excel and internet).
