Position Title: Psychosocial Coordinator
Duty Station :Various Locations across Greece

In Greece, IOM is focusing on responding to the Mediterranean migrant’s crisis, in support of the Greek Government and in cooperation with all other agencies involved. IOM currently implements interventions within the areas of emergency, preparedness and response, disaster risk reduction, livelihoods, healthcare and psychosocial assistance, assisted voluntary return of migrants, migration and development, resettlement and repatriation, family reunification, counter human trafficking, assistance to vulnerable migrants.

Context:
In the framework of the emergency situation regarding the migrants, asylum seekers and refugees across Greece, IOM Greece is establishing a pool of candidates interested to join the organisation.

Core Functions / Responsibilities:
Under the overall supervision of the National Protection Coordinator, the incumbent is expected to:
1. Responsible for the overall provision of protection case management services conducted by the mobile PSS teams;
2. Ensure quality of case management of individual cases in open accommodation centres;
3. Supervise activities and monthly programme of mobile PSS teams
4. Ensure coordination between IOM SMS team, protection staff and mobile PSS team
5. Ensure regular and timely field reporting; Provide feedback to Protection Coordinator about the situation of mental health related services and activities in the open accommodation centres;
6. Assist with day to day activities of PSS mobile teams; Advise field psychologists on case management and handling of cases;
7. Support in administrative tasks and collect documentation for administrative expenses and logistics;
8. Proposes and produces management tools such as guidance notes and procedures to field staff;
9. Ensure effective referral pathways with other mental health service providers in Greece; Coordinate and attend meetings of mental health service providers.
10. Undertake other duties as assigned.
11. Undertake duty travel as requested.

Required Qualifications and Experience

Education
• Bachelor’s degree from an accredited university; and/or Master’s degree from an accredited University in Psychology, Law, Social science or other protection related field.
Experience
• At least 3 years’ work experience in a humanitarian setting.
• Experience in liaising with governmental and diplomatic authorities and stakeholders, working in international organizations, non-government or government institutions/organization.
• Strong interpersonal and communication skills in a multi-cultural setting.
• Demonstrated ability to draft and prepare clear and concise formal correspondence and project reports.
• Strong organizational, facilitation, communication, writing and presentations skills;
• Proficient in a Microsoft Office environment and office software packages. Knowledge of spreadsheet and database packages, experience in handling of web-based management systems.
• Demonstrated ability to work well under pressure and keep deadlines.
• Strong work ethics and commitment to humanitarian principles.

Languages
• Proficiency in English, and Greek.

Under the overall supervision of the PSS Mobile Coordinator, the incumbent is expected to:
1. Perform an initial psychological assessment of migrants and asylum seekers in the open accommodation centers; Identify pre - existing mental health conditions in need for follow up treatment and cases in need of immediate referral to clinical services: victims of SGBV, people who are suicidal or harmful for themselves and the others, those showing serious psychotic episodes, people with pre-existing psychological disorders in need of continuation of treatment and substance abusers, especially those in abstinence crisis
2. Map existing national and humanitarian mental health services that are available and accessible to the sites residents and refer cases.
3. Demonstrate time management skills and ensures flexibility in the programme of visits in sites;
4. Identify gaps (ie the lack of interpretation) that should be referred to the project management and local authorities for further action;
5. Together with other agencies, develop and maintain an efficient mental health referral system for refugees;
6. Conduct regular individual and group therapies for refugees and other migrants in need and provide referrals to psychiatrists if necessary. Avoid single-session therapies and those focusing on trauma;
7. Avoid starting therapeutic processes that cannot be concluded during the stay of the person in the site. Contextualize care in the migration process of the individual client.
8. Provide induction sessions on case management for families and carers of the affected individuals;
9. Engage adequate and effective coordination with other IOM staff and informs adequately about changes in programme of visits of the mobile team;

10. Coordinate with relevant health authorities regarding the mental health of migrants and refugees
11. Coordinate activities, hold focus group discussions and awareness raising group sessions with beneficiaries on mental health related issues
12. Prepare case reports and statistics and submit to relevant IOM teams.
13. Ensure the confidentiality of medical information of the migrants and refugees.
14. Coordinate with the appropriate IOM Teams to ensure that migrants and refugees’ basic needs are met.
15. Monitor medical and mental health expenses related to needs of migrants and refugees
16. Undertake other duties as assigned.
17. Undertake duty travel as requested.
Required Qualifications and Experience

Education
• University degree in Psychology (Clinical psychology, Counselling Psychology, or similar) preferably a bachelor degree or higher grade from an accredited institution
Experience
• At least 3 years’ experience in clinical psychology
• Registration or chartered membership with the Greek Psychological Association
• Experience in emergency psychology is a distinctive advantage.
• Knowledge of PFA, IASC guidelines for MHPSS in emergencies and health and migration administrative procedures is an advantage
• Experience in providing training on mental health issues
• Excellent clinical skills.
• Capacity to develop and supervise quality control/assurance mechanisms in mental health activities.
• Excellent communication and negotiation skills, personal commitment, efficiency and flexibility.
• Ability to work with minimal supervision.
• Good level of computer literacy.
• Awareness of migrants and refugee issues.
• Ability to work under difficult conditions.
Languages
• Proficiency in English, and Greek.
