Position Title :Non-Formal Education Coordinator

In Greece, IOM is focusing on responding to the Mediterranean migrant’s crisis, in support of the Greek Government and in cooperation with all other agencies involved. IOM currently implements interventions within the areas of emergency, preparedness and response, disaster risk reduction, livelihoods, healthcare and psychosocial assistance, assisted voluntary return of migrants, migration and development, resettlement and repatriation, family reunification, counter human trafficking, assistance to vulnerable migrants.

Context:

Under the direct supervision of the Project Manager and the overall supervision of the Chief of Mission, the incumbent provides specialized assistance.

Core Functions / Responsibilities:

• Ensure the implementation of the Non-Formal Education response project for refugee and migrant children located in the accommodation facilities throughout Greece.
• Monitor the quality of the Non-Formal Education response by implementing partners in accordance with the project objectives and the Greek standards.
• Ensure implementation of Non-Formal Education activities in the field by implementing partners in coordination with the National SMS Coordinator and National Protection Coordinator.
• In coordination with the implementing partners, ensure the timely development of donor reports and any other as requested.
• Ensure that all planning materials are well understood by implementing partners and field teams and collected in a timely manner.
• Develop methods and monitoring progress ensuring quality and liability to beneficiaries to include all possible Non-formal educational aspects.
• Provide capacity building and technical support to IOM staff, implementing partners and government authorities as required.
• Represent IOM at Education coordination working group meetings, and other relevant forums.
• Liaise with authorities and organizations working in the field of Non-Formal Education.
• Identify methods to support and sustain the links between Non-Formal Education, community engagement and other sectors.
• Liaise with other departments of the organization such as finance, logistics, and administration to guarantee the smooth running of programme.
• Ensure compliance and align with the Mission’s policies and procedures;
• Perform such other related duties as may be assigned.

Required Qualifications and Experience

Education
• University degree and/or higher in Education, Pedagogy or a related field from an accredited academic institution with two years of relevant professional experience. Master’s degree in a related field would be considered as an advantage.

Experience

• Strong knowledge of the local education laws and regulations;
• Experience in liaising with governmental and diplomatic authorities and stakeholders, working in international organizations, non-government or government institutions/organization.
• Strong interpersonal and communication skills in a multi-cultural setting.
• Demonstrated ability to draft and prepare clear and concise formal correspondence and project reports.
• Strong organizational, facilitation, communication, writing and presentations skills;
• Proficient in a Microsoft Office environment and office software packages. Knowledge of spreadsheet and database packages, experience in handling of web-based management systems.
• Demonstrated ability to work well under pressure and keep deadlines.
• Strong work ethics and commitment to humanitarian principles.

Languages
Fluency in English and Greek is required.

Core Functions / Responsibilities:

• Demonstrate a strong protection analysis of issues and trends in the protection situation in open accommodation centers and in the general context of the humanitarian crisis in Greece;
• Develop monitoring tools, ensure implementation of protection activities and ensure strategic planning of activities;
• Maintain an updated mapping of services provided in the sites and off the sites for project implementation purposes as well as advocacy; Ensure protection referral pathways are updated and seek solutions for gaps in the service provision;
• Supervise and understand field staff needs, maintain an overview of cases managed by IOM field protection staff;
• Ensure implementation of activities according to the project objectives and indicators; Follow up on reports from field staff and situation reports from protection assistants; Ensure reports, quality data and program monitoring of protection activities are delivered on time;
• Coordinate with SMS coordinator on joint activities in the field; Report adequately to Project Manager;
• Act as a focal point for IOM protection related activities in open accommodation centers and represent IOM in meetings with other partners, governmental institutions and stakeholders;
• Develop operational procedures for protection activities and ensure compilation of feedback from protection assistants and officers;
• Organize protection trainings to field staff and ensure a protection- oriented approach across projects.
• Perform such other related duties as may be assigned.

Required Qualifications and Experience

Education

• University degree in an accredited University in Psychology, Law, Social science or other protection related field 5 years of relevant professional experience. Master’s degree in a related field would be considered as an advantage.

Experience

• Experience in liaising with governmental and diplomatic authorities as well as with international institutions;
• Strong organizational, facilitation, communication, writing and presentations skills;
• Experience in working in a multi-cultural environment;
• Experience in the usage of computers and office software packages (MS Word, Excel, etc) and knowledge of spreadsheet and database packages, experience in handling of web based management systems.

Languages
Fluency in English and Greek is required.
